Clearing the clutter to practice Mindfulness

Hey there,

Welcome back! This is a small place where you can take a minute to relax and practice Mindfulness meditation. Before you read further lets take a deep breath and stay relaxed and focused on this very moment. Following the natural rhythm of your breath and being attentive to each incoming and outgoing breath.

So, we will today discuss what being mindful really means for me and how can you use the same in your daily life.

Are you mindful or is your mind full.? (Do check this very frequently.)

I would call myself the second one for now. Why? Because of all the clutter, I see around me, both material and intellectual. Clutter is something which we all hate and try to avoid. It is on the desk, in the mind, in the inbox, at home, etc. Clutter may be present in almost every area of our lives.

Clearing the intellectual and then the material clutter is what I believe will really help us see things more mindfully and clearly. Just as a doctor before doing operation would want to sanitize the inside and outside of the area being operated, to have better clarity of the wound being treated. Similarly, when we have more physical and intellectual space, it will be easier to spot and correct the errors in our thoughts and lifestyle. It will give us a clearer picture of who we are now, and how far we are from where we wanted to be.

Start with an end goal in mind

Currently, I am studying for one of the standardized tests and want to crack the same in the best way possible. But I know for sure that just wishing about it and daydreaming would not take me any farther from my last failed attempt. I know the mistakes I did last time and have a better picture now of how to handle it this time. But unless I actually execute my plan, there is not much help I will do to myself. I need to study every day with an end goal in mind. You must be wondering what my exam has got to do with Mindfulness Meditation and why at all I am discussing this personal matter with you. Just hold on your nerves for a second. We\’ll sort things out soon. 🙂

An ideal way to move towards the goal

So my end goal is clear. Now, what is the next thing I need? To study religiously with discipline and focus? Yes, that will always be required but over and above that the most required thing is to enjoy the process in the present moment. Living the goal in each step towards it.  Living the success with each and every step towards the goal.

If only reaching the hilltop was to give happiness, then we are limiting our happiness to a great extent. There is a better way to do this by experiencing peace and happiness in each step we take towards the top. That is something which will neither make us fatigued when we reach there and will not even result in any sort of anxiety while still en route. So, essentially Happiness and peace is something not to look around for, it is there within us. All we.need to do is be still, aware. and relaxed to allow us to experience this innate Happiness.

Now all that is needed is to be a master of this skill. Practice is the key here.

Practice- The master key to success

Be it a standardized test or practicing mindfulness meditation, the practice is only going to take us farther. Mindfulness (or breath awareness) although looks very obvious, is one of the finest tools for helping us be in a relaxed and peaceful state almost all the time. The better our practice of Mindfulness meditation, the better will be our state of mind.

So here on TheMindful.in we will try to engage regularly to help you with this practice and share the best ways to experience this ever-present bliss in our lives(which we were missing till now).
